The Aboriginal Cultural Centre is an extremely important aspect for the promotion of the aboriginal culture of Australia in general and of the Gubbi Gubbi district in particular. The Centre houses a vast collection of old and new Traditional and Contemporary paintings by Aboriginal artists including the famous Hope O’Chin. Enjoy a new artist each month.
Traditional Aboriginal Houses display, Aboriginal Artefact display this collection of
old/new traditionally used artefacts include spears, blood stained woomeras, shields, bowls, hair belts, fire sticks and weapons and Bush tucker display is a highlight educating the importance of Aboriginal Culture, plants in traditional medicine, ceremony, diet and Dreamtime. Our exhibition room showcases a permanent collection of works. “Hope a Continual Dreaming” and “A recollection for Peace” on display permanently. Both exhibitions are revolutionary works by Hope O'Chin.
Also you can immerse yourself in much literature on the Aboriginal culture, watch DVD’s on the Ration Shed out at Cherbourg and the people and stories of Cherbourg itself.
